Attend the 8th Annual MEP and ELD Conference, March 3-5, 2020, at the Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey and discover promising practices to support the educational success of Pennsylvania’s English learners and migrant education students.
The conference is designed to provide a space for parents, teachers, administrators, scholars and Pennsylvania Department of Education staff to engage in professional practices of knowledge sharing, discussion, critical analysis, and re-visioning of educational policies and practices for the purpose of advancing the quality of educational experiences for migrant education and English learner students and families.
Each conference session seeks to promote the conference’s broader goal of strengthening systems and building capacity at all levels. Presentations will address both formal and informal learning across the lifespan, and attend to students’ positive educational and developmental growth from birth through high school graduation by promoting strong partnerships between home, school and community contexts. By engaging in interactive workshops and critical discussions, conference participants will further develop their skills to explicitly draw connections between current theory and research and educational practice.
This conference is designed for content-area teachers and ESL specialists working in school districts, charter schools, career and technical centers, intermediate units, private schools and non-public schools; LEA administrators; community organization and agency staff working with English learners and/or migrant students and their families; parents and other ELD stakeholders; and migrant education program staff.
